Build better future for your children

Mr Felix Ibrahim, the Northern Regional Director of Information Services Department, has called on parents in the region to build a better future for their children by sending them to school.

He said this was the only way the high illiteracy rate in the Region could be reduced.

Mr Ibrahim said this when he launched a one week regional public education campaign on government policies and programmes and on the need for unity, peace and national cohesion.

He said the Metropolitan, Municipal and districts to be covered include, Tamala Metropolitan, Yendi Municipal, Central Gonja and Bunkpurugu/Yunyoo districts.

Mr Ibrahim appealed to the people in the region to sustain the peace they are enjoying for government to implement its development agenda for the Region.

Alhaji Shamrock Abdulai Mahama, Assistant Director of Ghana Education Service said the Yendi Municipality has 96 kindergarten, 160 primary schools and 30 junior high schools which makes it possible for every child to have the opportunity of attending school.

There are many children in Ghana today who lost their parents because of HIV/Aids and other issues. There are many children in Africa who need help in order to survive. Part of Jomelos’ mission is to look for Foster Parents who want to support a needy child, by a donation (either monthly or once) of any amount, which in turn will be used to support these children and give them the opportunity to have food, education and health services

JOMELOS works in partnership with local hospitals, church communities, community leaders and volunteers. JOMELOS’S staff members help children deal with their daily issues and questions.

We believe that every child has a Talent which needs to be developed and carefully managed, if these children are to become socially balanced and productive. That’s why we have come out with an idea to build a Home and school for the orphans and street children under the care of Jomelos.

Our aim is not only to provide the children with quality education but to encourage the other children who have talents to be creative. We also want to teach them practical skill such as gardening, cooking, carpentry, painting, sport and others. Jomelos values every talent that the children have.
